Casa de Misericórdia Church

It is one of the most emblematic monuments of Torres Novas heritage of and its proximity to the Castle makes it a mandatory stop.

Built in the 16th century, the Santa Casa de Misericórdia Church underwent improvement and decoration works over the years, making it an eclectic place: it comprises a Renaissance portico, a 17th-century ceiling, three gilded altarpieces, a pulpit for official workers and, on the outside, there is a portal with Manueline elements. It is also distinguished by its diverse assets, with emphasis on the 18th century crib from the Machado de Castro School, donated to the institution and which originally belonged to the owners of Quinta de São Gião. In 1986 it was classified as a Property of Public Interest.
